Softball

PP is playing softball again this year (after taking last year off). She has moved up to kid pitch. It is not nearly as exciting as coach pitch was. The kids struggle with pitching so the batter gets to walk ALOT! Even though it is painfully slow at times we are looking forward to a great season.
She loves when I take her picture...can't you tell?!?

In the outfield

PP's first at bat

She got walked to first base. The coach gave her a little advice.

Even though her teammate got walked, she ran to second!

I think she got a little bored...

On her way to third, the batter fouled.

From second base she ran all the way HOME!!!

They won 9-0!! PP was uber excited!

Easter Baskets

Even though we are all grown, Mama still made Easter Baskets for everyone...except me. I successfully talked her out of a basket for me. At our house, we hide the baskets. Thankfully Mama said the older kids didn't have to find thier baskets. But we did hide PP's basket. She isn't...how do I say this nicely...the most observant child. She reminds me of my brother in that way. They say really smart people tend to be in their own world so I guess we will use that excuse for their absentmindedness. Anyways, if it hadn't been for Poppy showing PP where her basket was we may have been there all morning.

The big kids went out the night before with some friends so they were a little slow waking up.

Once we get our baskets, we like to trade candy. Bean is trying to give...not trade...Mi a peep. His response you ask..."I don't like those either!" I guess we will have to give Mama a list for next year...no Peeps for the kids.

The Marbled Egg

On one of the egg dying kits I got was for marbling eggs. Instead of putting in vinegar, you put in 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil.

Then you stir it really fast....

drop the egg in....

and quickly pull it out.

They didn't like it the first time around so they dunked it again.

The first one didn't work so great so we tried it again...

That one wasn't so great either....

But the one that Mi and KT did was exactly great! I guess third times a charm!!

Dying Eggs

Dying eggs was always fun when I was a kid, but as an adult (and the one who has to clean up the mess) I don't enjoy the tradition as much. The past couple years we have skipped it. But Mi's girlfriend, KT, was visiting and she has never dyed eggs so we HAD to! Everyone joined in the fun.

We went to the Wal-Marts to look for egg dying kits but they were all out. Just like them to be out of what I want. But have no fear we found dying kits at Hudson's. I kinda went a little over board...I got seven kits! They were ten cents each. I can't pass up a bargain ;) So KT had quite a few colors to choose from for her first egg dying experience.

Prior to the festivites
Since KT had never dyed eggs before she sat back and watched for a few minutes. Since Mi was busy making eggs, Poppy and PP showed her what to do!

She quickly caught on...shocker, right?!? You know she is a smartee if she is dating a Henderson...hehe

Bean got in on the fun too! As you can see, she has the artistic ability in the family.

*We interrupt this egg dying party to move a palm tree*

*Now back to our regular programming*

Everyone had several eggs to dye but PP went through hers the fastest. She still enjoyed watching everyone else dye their eggs.

What are they staring at, I wonder?
KT made a special egg. She used a rubber band. Putting the rubber band on the egg made her nervous so Mi helped her out...such a sweet boy. I bet he grew up with some great sisters!

She ever so patiently held her egg in the dye.

The finished product!

A great time was had by all (and they kinda helped to clean up too!) but we missed our sweet MP joining the party! We'll just have to dye eggs with her in June :)
